As a Therapist, I feel the ICUsteps Group is a much needed and valuable resource to continue to support patients and their families in their emotional and physical recovery. The group atmosphere provides peer support and helps to motivate patients with their rehabilitation.
Our Exercise Group is run by a qualified trainer and aims to help anyone who has been in ICU rebuild their strength and get moving again.
The sessions are free for anyone who has been a patient in any ICU - they are funded by ICUsteps Chester.
You will have a group 30 minute circuit - some exercises are chair based - and adjusted to suit all abilities.
This is followed by 30 minutes supervised use of equipment in the gym - again adjusted to suit all abilities
The Centre also has a cafe serving great freshly made sandwiches, jacket potatoes and paninis etc. - or just stay for a tea/coffee and a chat if you wish.
Due to the Coronavirus we have had to suspend our Exercise classes at Lache Community Centre.
These will restart as soon as circumstances allow.
This box will be updated to show the restart date.
In the meantime, Wez, our trainer, is running Exercises classes for us on Zoom. These, like everything else we offer, are free.
The classes are on Monday and Friday mornings at 11 am - please get in touch using the Contact Us page if you need more information.
Wez has also has made three excellent videos for us and worked with Critical Care Therapies at COCH to produce a video to help address shoulder weakness issues.
