All our fundraising and face to face social events are currently on hold in line with Government guidelines. However you can see from the information below that we would normally have a very varied programme - we aim to have something for everyone!
BUT we know that this is a difficult time - many of our members are shielding and are missing contact with their families and friends. So we have turned to Zoom once
again and are running a programme of Friday night light hearted events including
QUIZZES - BINGO - MURDER MYSTERY EVENINGS
Dates will appear in this box, so please check back regularly to see what is happening,
then use the Contact Us page to ask for log-in details.
All the activities the Group offers to former ICU patients and those close to them are FREE - that includes the Drop-In meetings, Exercise Group, Relaxation Taster Sessions and our Mindfulness course and Yoga. But of course the Group does have to pay the costs of these - therapists and trainers fees etc. along with room hire and insurance.
We do this by applying for grants to local grant making trusts, and through the support of some businesses - we are especially grateful to Birchall Blackburn Law for sponsoring the costs of our Mindfulness course.
We also hold fundraising events - these have proved very popular as social events as well as fundraising events and they have enabled us to continue to grow the services we offer to Group members.
Our plans for the next 12 months include our wine tasting evening, a quiz night, our annual raffle and a summer event
- Coronavirus permitting!
Please use the Virgin Money Giving Donate button on our Home page if you would like to make a donation towards the cost of our services.
Watch this space for details of the other forthcoming events.
Please get in touch if you would like us to let you know about forthcoming event and activities. We will email this information to you - we will never pass your details to any other party.
BONES & MUSCLES
A 9 week course beginning with Bone Density testing along with Body Composition Analysis followed by a series of sessions aimed at helping you to build bone and muscle strength through exercise (appropriate for our group members), advice on nutrition, falls prevention and maintenance of skin integrity. A final session of Body Composition Analysis will show how much you have improved over the 9 weeks.
Contact us for more details - we hope to be able to reschedule this soon.
Our recent Quiz Night was a sell out! Our thanks to Gordon our question Master for an excellent evening - the questions were testing, but not impossible!
Keith and Jan from Fish Fry produced superb freshly cooked fish and chips (with sausage or veggie alternatives).
We have already been asked for next year's date - so watch this space.
Despite organising this primarily as a social event for our members, we managed to make a profit of almost £300 for Group funds.
The Group is extremely grateful to:
Cheshire West and Chester Community Response Fund and the Westminster Foundation
Cheshire Community Foundation
for awarding us grants which
allow us to run activities which are
free to our members in these
The Group has also received a very generous donation from Bartonfest - we are so grateful for their support.
This together with the other events on this page will allow the Group to continue the Drop-In Meetings and Exercise Classes together with Relaxation therapies. We are planning other services that will benefit former ICU patients - keep visiting our website to keep up to date with our activities.
For 3 years now the Group has taken part in Chester Business Club's Annual Walk.
It has been a great event and has raised substantial funds for the Group, as well as giving us all a target to aim for in terms of fitness!
Sadly this has also had to be postponed this year but we hope it will be rescheduled soon and we will be able to take part once more. Come and join us!
